Earlier this year, Miller announced that she had been diagnosed in 2018 with a cancer called Burkitt lymphoma, and had undergone rigorous treatment. Her cancer, a rare type of Hodgkin’s lymphoma, was discovered during emergency surgery on her spine shortly after her release from prison for fraud. The surgery left her unable to walk, though in the past month or so she has been up and out of her wheelchair several times.
In early November, Miller updated fans about her progress with a video of her standing upright and doing some leg stretches.
“PT! Getting better each time, but 1hr two times a week will never get me walking again! Come on Physical Therapists get me into an intensive program so I can walk again!!!,” The star wrote in the caption accompanying the video.
A few weeks later, fans got another update: Miller stood up on her own and even did a modified ballet pose for viewers.
“Back at it! Finally found an LA Neuro- Physical Therapy place to take me!!!,” Miller captioned that post.
Friends and fans commented by the thousands, letting Miller know what an inspiration she is and that they’re pulling for her to be fully mobile once again.
“[You] inspire me to keep on keeping on every dayyyyy!!! so keep on keeping [on] so I can keep on keeping on!!,” commented a user named Anna.
“YESSSSS !!!!! Omg Abby well done ! [That] is amazing … Can’t wait to see you [walking] for season 9,” wrote another named Dylan.
When Miller went public with her diagnosis, she explained that in addition to the surgery, she also underwent 10 rounds of chemotherapy, an additional spinal surgery, and months of physical therapy to be able to even sit up and crawl around again. The star has shared that the fact that she’s standing at all is an incredible accomplishment.
