Alex Trebek Pushing Through Cancer Treatment
Trebek has been battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer since February 2019. Despite going through rigorous treatment, he’s still been gracing our screens with new episodes of Jeopardy and now this upcoming movie. A pancreatic cancer diagnosis is no joke, but Trebek has truly beaten the odds by surpassing his one-year mark since his diagnosis and is expected to hit two-years. Over the past two years, he’s gone through chemotherapy and is currently undergoing a experimental immunotherapy regimen which has shown huge promise.
Even though Trebek is fighting through cancer like a true warrior, he admits that he’s had some dark days during treatment. However, he’s clearly not spending one day to dwell on the diagnosis, and is instead focusing on doing the things he loves the most.
During Treatment, It’s Important to Find Moments of Joy
Cancer treatment can take both an emotional and physical toll on a person, and it can be hard to focus on anything besides the diagnosis. However, staying positive is essential during this whole process. In order to lift your spirits, experts recommend taking time out of your day and do something you are passionate about, or an activity you enjoy.

“We know that emotional health [and] quality of life is associated with survival [and] better outcomes,” Dr. Dana Chase, a gynecologic oncologist at Arizona Oncology, tells SurvivorNet. “So definitely working on your emotional health, your physical well-being, your social environment, your emotional well-being and making them better are important and can impact your survival. If that’s related to what activities you do that bring you joy, then you should try to do more of those activities.”
