How does one find strength again when a new health issue presents itself? That was the question Charlene Lim wanted answered in her early 20s, when she noticed her body beginning to change in unexpected ways.
“I went through what I would call a second teenage-hood, where again, your body completely changes, your metabolism slows, and everything is thrown up in the air and you’re confused about what’s happening physically,” Charlene explains in Flourish, a documentary that explores how she was able to find strength and confidence in her body.

But people with illnesses can find solace in all sorts of outside activities, from group therapy to new exercise routines to art exploration. Charlene says that she chose yoga because it seemed like something good she could do for her body that wouldn’t require too much strength initially. “When I first started yoga, I picked it because I thought it was an exercise I could do,” she says. “It was achievable and it wasn’t any kind of team sport, because I still maybe didn’t flourish into myself, being a very social person … I felt it was something that could relax me and make me feel at ease with my body.” Check out
