People who lose a partner to cancer often struggle with when to move on with another romantic partner. In the case of Duane Dog Chapman, who lost his wife Beth seven months ago, the answer may be now. In a new TV appearance Dog, 66, appears to propose to his late wife’s assistant, Moon Angell. While there was a huge outpouring of empathy for dog and his family after Beth’s death from lung cancer, it is still unclear if this proposal is genuine, or perhaps part of the dramatic television character which Dog often embodies.Still, the issue of grief, romantic attachment, and finding love after loss is relevant for many people in the SurvivorNet community.
Read MoreAfter losing a spouse to cancer, survivors, “may want to reattach as soon as possible,” Pepper Schwartz, Ph.D. an expert on sex and relationships at the University of Washington tells SurvivorNet. But remember, says Schwartz, “You are physiologically impaired after a great loss. Whether it’s depression or moods that swing between elation and grief, you are not competent to make life-changing decisions for longer than you realize.” Grief is a totally individual process. So is it too soon for Dog Chapman to find love, as some on social media have inevitably suggested? And what about the propriety of a proposal to longtime family friend,? The proposal came in a video preview of Chapman’s upcoming appearance on the Dr. Oz Show show? After weeks of family turmoil, @DogBountyHunter and Moon Angell join me to set the record straight.

Moon Angell and Duane 'Dog' Chapman have known each other for 30 years, according to a family source. As Beth Champman's longtime assistant, she now helps 'Dog' Chapman everything from household tasks to cooking. As a source close to the family told ET online, Moon Angell "is not somebody who showed up yesterday."
As quickly as Lyssa Chapman's tweet stoked romance rumors, they were quashed by a source close to the family. "Moon has been a family friend to Beth and Dog for years," the source says. "Since Beth's death, she has stepped in to help Dog in his time of need. There will never be another Beth."
Amid speculation, Duane reiterated that he and Angell were just friends though an exclusive statement to Radar. Nonetheless, Duane has been open about battling a deep sense of loneliness since his wife lost her battle with cancer.

Who Is Moon Angell?
A longtime family friend, Moon Angell has known Dog and Beth Chapman for 30 years. She served as maid of honor in their wedding and served as Beth’s longtime assistant. Now, she helps Chapman with everything from household tasks to cooking. As a source close to the family told ET online, Moon Angell "is not somebody who showed up yesterday."
Two of Chapman’s daughters, Baby Lyssa and her sister, Cecily, have used social-media to call out Angell and question her motives.
But in the brief clip, Dog tells Dr. Mehmet Oz, “I’m a lot happier with her around.”
Next, Angell nods and says, “I have a lot of enemies right now.”
Clearly she wasn’t prepared for what Dog said next: “Moon Angell? Will you marry me?”
In response, she turns to look at him, stunned. The clip ends abruptly before revealing what, if anything, Angell said next.
TMZ’s sources say Chapman did not offer her a ring during the interview. And as of now, no plans for a wedding or engagement have been announced. From Dr. Schwartz’s standpoint, that’s a good sign. “Open your heart,” she advises survivors who are grieving the loss of a spouse to cancer, “but don’t sign any contracts ( ie: marriage) or move in with someone.”
The clip follows a weeks-long social-media feud between Moon and two of Chapman’s daughters, Baby Lyssa and her sister, Cecily. The two have argued that Moon shamelessly made a move on her widowed father as he grieved the loss of his wife.
Beth Chapman’s Cancer Journey
Beth Chapman was first diagnosed with Stage 2 throat cancer in September of 2017. She underwent treatment at that time and was declared free of the disease. But in November of 2017, her cancer returned. This time, the disease had progressed, apparently spreading to her lungs and progressing to Stage 4. The family attorney released a statement confirming the recurrence shortly after news broke that Beth had been rushed to the hospital due to difficulty breathing.
During a Mother's Day speech in Florida, Beth Chapman announced that she would not be undergoing further chemotherapy because it wasn't "her bag." Instead, she wished to enjoy her life and put her faith in God as she continued her cancer battle.
In an exclusive interview with SurvivorNet, Duane ‘Dog’ the Bounty Hunter talked of Beth’s determination as she battled with cancer.
