One of the world’s most famous, and famously expensive, shopping streets is raising money for childhood cancer. And given the luxe brands on offer — think Baccarat, Carolina Herrera, Ralph Lauren and more — it’s no wonder the annual sale, now in its 33th year, expects to raise over $100,000.
The annual Miracle on Madison Avenue event takes place on Dec. 7. As millions of people flock to New York City over the holidays, there’s a good chance many in the SurvivorNet community will be able to visit the more than 65 retailers between 57th and 86th streets participating. Each will donate 20% of the day’s sales to The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s pediatric initiatives with MSK Kids.

Santa and MSK’s therapy dogs — known as the “Caring Canines” — will also be in attendance, and shoppers can expect to find things like treats and champagne toasts at some of the participating stores.
The Society of MSK is a volunteer-led organization within the cancer center that is dedicated to supporting cancer research, as well as providing information for the public on cancer prevention, detection and treatment.
The Miracle on Madison event is organized by the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District, and has been held annually for 33 years, donating proceeds to MSK’s childhood cancer initiatives for seven, according to Forbes.
“Madison Avenue is a special place for its retailers who volunteer each year to support children in need for its loyal and longstanding shoppers who support businesses that are engaged with the community,” Business Improvement District President Matthew Bauer told Forbes. “As the holidays are a time for traditions, Miracle on Madison is the perfect way to meld the tradition of holiday giving gifts with the equally important tradition of giving back.”
If you are in the New York City area, a complete list of participating stores can be found here. Participants also include jewelry boutiques such as Kwiat, Monica Vinader and Aaron Basha, and massive fashion names such as Giorgio Armani and Kate Spade.
