“You’re The One That I Want.” “Physical..Let’s Get Physical.” The world knows Olivia Newton-John for her music and her movies, and now her struggle with cancer is back in the news. The 69-year-old singer and actress has just confirmed that she is battling breast cancer for a third time. She rose to stardom after playing Sandy in the beloved 1970s musical Grease and was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992. Her second diagnosis came in 2013, but she chose to remain silent about it at that time.
“I thought, ‘it’s my life’ and I just decided to keep it to myself,” the actress said of her 2013 battle during an interview with the Australian television program Sunday Night. This time around, Newton-John revealed that the cancer is metastatic and has spread to her spine. Despite the cancer recurrence, and the fact that she now has a stage four disease, Newton-John remains optimistic that she can face down cancer again. “I believe I will win over it, and that’s my goal,” she told Sunday Night.
