Radio Host Dan Bongino Confirms to Fans He Has Lymphoma & Says a Treatment Plan Is In Place

Bongino Confirms Cancer Diagnosis

Dan Bongino shared with his fans that he has cancer; “It’s lymphoma the Hodgkin’s type,” he said. “But it is treatable.”
Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) is a blood cancer that begins in the white blood cells.
This cancer can start almost anywhere in the body; for Bongino, it began with a tumor on his neck.

Dan Bongino confirmed to fans on his radio show that he does, in fact, have cancer. He’d previously told us that he suspected a lipoma near his neck might be something more.

“Just a little bit of bad news on a personal note,” Bongino said on his show today, “We did get a diagnosis yesterday from my doctor; I know my audience, you have been amazing. I’ve received an overwhelming amount of support. Unfortunately, it is cancer. It’s lymphoma the Hodgkin’s type. But it is treatable.”

Bongino told his fans, “I feel like I owe you an update. I’m going to leave it there. I have nothing to be depressed about. There’s a treatment plan. Everybody’s got their obstacles; this is just another one for me and [my wife]. I do have cancer, and that is hard for me to say.”

The Power of Support

He wrapped up the news saying, “We’ll be okay. I am optimistic. It’s not some act I’m putting on for the show. I’ve got good doctors, good family, good support network, great friends, and the best audience in the business.” Support through the cancer journey is beneficial, and can be found through therapy, or like Bongina says, friends, family, and professional relationships. Many people also find support groups helpful.

Kelly Sargent, a 53 year-old ovarian cancer survivor, also knows the importance of a good support network. Sargent told SurvivorNet, “I have an incredible set of friends that I met after my diagnosis through a Bible study group that have become very, very close friends of mine that are an incredible part of my support system. That support from those ladies has been life-changing for me.”

What is Hodgkin Lymphoma?

Hodgkin lymphoma is a type of blood cancer. It affects the white blood cells in the lymphatic system (the part of your body that fights diseases).

Lymphoma begins when these white blood cells called lymphocytes develop a genetic mutation. There are two main types of lymphoma: Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL); the distinguishing feature between the two is which type of white blood cells (lymphocytes) are being affected. Doctors can spot the type of lymphoma by analyzing these cells.

Once a specific diagnosis is received, a treatment path will be planned. Treatment for this disease varies, depending on the stage of the cancer.
