Billy Baldwin is feeling profoundly grateful — with good reason. His son, Vance, a high school senior who was diagnosed with cancer last year, is now cancer-free and having a blast before graduation.
The proud dad first posted a slide show of his adorable son playing sports throughout the years. It starts out with photo of him this past weekend posing with his parents — his mom is Chynna Phillips Baldwin — on the basketball court for “Senior Night.”
Read MoreWell-wishers on the post included Vance’s aunts Hilaria Baldwin (wife of brother, Alex), Bijou Phillips (Chynna’s sister), and actress Mena Suvari (“American Beauty”).
The latest post, also from this past weekend, is of Vance on his way to his high school’s Winter Formal. His dad is getting quite a kick out of it.
‘He Kept It Very Quiet’
Baldwin posted about his son’s diagnosis on Instagram last year.
“A year ago today my son Vance was diagnosed with cancer…he was 16 years old,” it reads.
While the Baldwin family has never revealed Vance’s exact cancer diagnosis, his father notes in the post, “Thank you #drlawrencepiro… you are an amazing man!!”
Dr. Lawrence Piro‘s professional bio identifies him as a specializing in hematology/oncology and affiliated with Cedar Sinai Medical Network.
Baldwin Matriarch Also a Cancer Survivor
This past December, Billy Baldwin posted a heartwarming tribute to mom Carol, a breast cancer survivor, as she celebrates a milestone her 90th birthday. Five of her six children were on hand to help her blow out the candles.
Let's just say that when she was in her 50's… for A LOT of reasons we weren't so sure this day was gonna come!!" Baldwin writes. The family gathering included brothers Alec, Billy and Daniel, and sisters Elizabeth and Jane.
