SurvivorNet is a 100% editorially independent platform dedicated to excellent, fully vetted information about cancer. Our editors have run major national news organizations and employ rigorous standards for fact checking and ethics. We do not accept any outside interference that would compromise the integrity and independence of our process.
How Our Process Works
- NCCN Guidelines: As a starting point, to assemble our resources, we use the guidelines for the standard of care in cancer as compiled by The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), a respected non-profit.
- Leading Voices: We take the NCCN guidelines and split up the key topics along the journey followed by most patents. We then collaborate with leading specialists in specific diseases to produce information intended to help patients and their families make informed decisions about care. These experts are the core of our resources.
- Data: We feature information supported by published, replicable data from major medical journals and academic institutions.
- Peer Review. Before publishing, SurvivorNet Resources are reviewed by other leading clinicians in the same field to ensure accuracy. This concept of rigorous "peer review" colleagues checking one another's work is central to any legitimate medical research. We think patient focused information ought to work that way too.
- Pointing Out Differences: Where there is debate among doctors, we point it out. When doctors don't have answers, we say that too.
- Updates: The SurvivorNet medical and editorial team is constantly updating core resources to account for changes in the standard of care, FDA approvals, and, new input from researchers and clinicians.
Our mission is to put information from oncologists with a variety of backgrounds into one place, and to help you make informed decisions about your treatment and your future.
