“The thing that got me into cycling was my sister,” says Jools Walker. After Walker’s diagnosis of depression, followed by a mini-stroke, and then becoming her mom’s caregiver, she used cycling to find freedom and joy amidst the hardship of life. “There’s always a new discovery about myself, or the area I’m riding around into.” Walker remembers her depression as a place she couldn’t pull herself out of let alone get out of bed. “The biggest wake-up call I ever had was when I had a mini-stroke at 33 years-old; it was the wake-up call for me to change my entire lifestyle, and think about my own mindset as well.”
