During the hike, Garcia came across the remains of a bear and attempted to remove its claw with his knife. As a result, he received an extremely severe electrical shock of 2400 volts which cost him an arm, ribs and nearly his life. However, his journey didn’t stop there. While in the hospital, doctors discovered he had
testicular cancer which forced him to immediately start chemotherapy and put a hold on his reconstructive surgeries.
One health issue is enough to impact anyone’s spirits, but dealing with two at the same time is devastating. Despite these obstacles, Garcia fought like a true warrior and managed to beat the disease. Now, he continues to pursue his passion warming the stomachs of many by continuing to run his business cooking with a prosthetic arm.
