Brachytherapy is an internal form of radiation where small radioactive seeds are placed inside the prostate. There are two forms of this therapy: permanent low-dose brachytherapy and temporary high-dose brachytherapy.
If you go for the temporary option, the procedure is done as an outpatient visit and can take up to 30 minutes. Catheters are inserted into the prostate and the radioactive seeds are delivered through the catheters and then removed once the procedure is done.
