They’ve been married for almost a decade. They’re a Match.com success story. And now, Michael and Xio Caruso are thriving as breast cancer survivors, together! They continue to maintain regular checkups with their team of doctors and Xio says, “So far so good.”
Michael was diagnosed first in January 2017. When he was finishing up with chemotherapy, Xio received her diagnosis. Facing the disease together has given them a unique advantage … they can understand each other. But there are some things about their cancer journey that Michael says have been especially tough. “What’s really starting to get difficult to deal with is just the emotional changes now,” Michael says. “We just went to go see Creed 2, and I’m just teary-eyed throughout the whole darn movie … it’s like, I shouldn’t be that way. It’s a tough guy movie! What the heck is wrong?”
