The music talent within this family is certainly unparalleled. Not only is Wolfgang following in his father’s rock n’ roll footsteps, but he can thank the ultimate patriarch of the family Jans. Coping With Music During Cancer Treatment
While battling cancer, it’s important to find moments of joy and still try to do activities that make you happy. Many cancer survivors have found different ways to cope, but embracing your artistic side has shown great promise in distracting patients from their diagnosis.
Of course, we can all rock out quite like the Van Halen family. However, breast cancer survivor Marquina Iliev-Piselli found an inventive way to channel her love for music while undergoing chemotherapy air guitar. “Without air guitar, my treatment would have been incredibly sad,” Marquina tells SurvivorNet. “Air guitar was the thing that brought me through. I recommend it highly.”

The most helpful aspect of air guitar for Marquina was that it allowed her to channel a different persona and separate from her body for a moment. Then, while undergoing chemotherapy she should dress in different outfits in order to make herself feel better. “It was glam rock chemo,” Marquina says. “I air guitared in my chemo, and that saved my spirit. It makes it so that I don’t look back on that time of fear.”
