Sharon Spencer is a poet, an advocate, a Barclay’s Center employee, and a 12-year breast cancer survivor. In addition to her cancer, Sharon has been through incredible struggle in her life. After having a mastectomy and beating breast cancer, she was hit by a car and had part of her leg amputated. “You have to dig so deep into yourself, and just pull out every ounce of strength that you have and continue to tell yourself that things are going to get better,” Sharon says. “This is not going to be forever. It’s almost like, you have to give yourself a pep talk. I just think that there’s a purpose for each of us.”
